Podcast Interview

A collection of podcasts featuring conversations with the thought leaders, the activists, the changemakers, and leaders in our community.

More than 16,000 residents of our neighbors live in food deserts. The episode was an eye-opening look at the problem and offered some insight into how pervasive the issue is in our community. So, when schools closed because of the coronavirus pandemic, we started thinking about the children in our community who rely on the school system to provide breakfast and lunch and how this crisis is only going to exacerbate this issue. On this episode, we check back in with Joe Conway, Director of Health Equity and Human Experience at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, to talk about the community’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, lessons learned after Hurricane Florence including how to get food to folks who need it and what our recovery looks like through the lens of equity.

Top Rated: Instrumental in improving the HRC's Healthcare Equity Index (HEI) score for New Hanover Regional Medical Center (now a part of the Novant Health system) from 25 (2018) to 85 (2020) to 100 (2022).
